so i'm into acronyms right now. the title - Bad News Birds.

candice and i have been at war with some birds around our house.

scenario 1.
we've got this little ledge on the inside of our front porch column where a bird could build a nice, cozy, sheltered nest. and a bird did. we took it down. and a bird did again. we took it down again. and a bird started again. we took it down again. this time we put nails thru cardboard, taped it down, and had the nails pointing up--had to be bird proof. and a bird started again. we took it down again. we woke up this morning to a bird sitting on the nails with what appeared to be an attempt at an overnight nest...with possibly an egg underneath...since the bird wouldn't move.

scenario 2.
we've been planting grass seed in the front and back of our house. birds appears to love grass seed. sitting in our chairs on our patio, not only is our backyard a sanctuary for about 15 birds, but they have no regard for personal property. they eat the seed like they bought it. they walk our yard like they own it. they sit on our roof like they built it. last night we were eating dinner, a bird flew about 4' above our heads and rested on our shed roof. and stayed. and stayed. and stayed. i had a glass of water with ice. one ice cube. no movement. two ice cubes. no movement. try 3. nothing. my wife runs and yells at the birds. no a chance. as a last resort, we jiggle the wind chime. birds FINALLY leave. only to come back later.

birds are not my friends right now. we are at war. and we will win. even if it comes down to....well, i won't go there on my blog.

otherwise, i am open to any and all suggestions that anyone may have.

the birds are going down.

Just be thankful that the birds are OUTSIDE and not INSIDE like one was here! I had to laugh reading it...although I know what a "war" this is for you...give us "page 2" when you finally figure out what to do!

Fake rubber snakes. Put one where they are building the nest right now, and it will keep them away. I know that you don't want a rubber snake hanging from your porch too long, but it shouldn't be nest building season too much longer.

Why do I know this? I'm such a dork.

Great story, Brother! Can't wait to hear the conclusion!

What is up with birds these days, anyway? We've had one banging against our kitchen windows for 2 days straight. We think he thinks his reflection is another bird.

Wack.
