Local music

My friend, Joel, is starting to play keyboard for a band, and I got to see them perform last night. The main guy is Mike McCord and his website is: http://www.mccordmusic.com/. They sound pretty good and I think he has some music on his myspace account. Feel free to check it out.

A paralyzing afternoon

I came home from work yesterday to do some soffit around my house when I started to get a headache. The longer I worked, the more the headache pounded on my skull. After about a half hour of pain, I went inside to lay down.

And lay down I did!

I proceeded to fall asleep for the rest of the day and night, except for a few phone calls to and from Candice, and a solid throw up session. Yuk!

It's amazing to me how something so small as a headache can totally paralyze your body. All I could do was lay in bed, sleep, and try to put down a few liquids. It's also amazing that, under these conditions, the body can continue to sleep (I slept like 13 hours yesterday!).

Thankfully, with the help of Candice playing nurse over the phone, I awoke this morning feeling much better and just a touch weak (but I guess that's expected).

And Candice was able to come up for Thanksgiving and it was a fantastic time.....I hate taking her to the airport. But if you want to read more about that, you can go to her link. She writes well.

She said 'Yes' -- Part II

For the past few weeks I had been keeping a secret from the woman I love and so I had to keep it a secret from most people as well---but now Candice and I can make it official. We became engaged to be married on Friday! Yay! I was able to surprise Candice and fly down that day for the proposing. And she was definitely surprised (though the cat came out of the bag that morning when we talked since I was very much away and driving to the airport...). And she definitely said 'Yes' when I was on one knee! I'm sure if you check her blog, she will give better details than I could ever give...she's great like that! She is the woman I want to love for the rest of my life and God has been so good to the two of us already that I know He will continue to bless us as me move thru this life together! Unfortunately, I could only stay with her for about a day, but she will be coming up this week for Thanksgiving to my parent's house, so that will be fantastic! I am such a blessed man to be marrying an amazing woman in Candice!

A round of 9

When living in Michigan, you have to take advantage of every day in the late fall that is nice. Yesterday was a perfect 65 degree day with a clear blue sky. So, what do you do on a day like that in mid-November?

Golf.

Yup. My friend, Bill, and I went out to the golf course yesterday and knocked around a few balls. The hardest part was having leaves all over the place when you got off the fairway. We lost about 6 balls due to not being able to find them in the leaves! It gets frustrating when you know you hit a decent shot and you can't find it! But, we also found about the same number of balls that other people had lost, so we ended up pretty even! I guess the moral of the story is to just hit the ball in the fairway and not even put the leaves in play. It was so nice to get out and play one more time (I was even able to ring up a couple pars.....and a few double-bogeys!). And now I guess we just wait for the snow to come. Boo!

Home Improvement

Here are a few pictures (courtesy of mom) of the doors that were just installed in the house...progress is always being made. The laundry room is all but finished with drywall and the cellar doors are being worked on today!

You can fry those?

Candice and I were able to eat at a greasy spoon called "The Penguin" on Monday afternoon and I was able to experience fried pickles for the first time. I have to admit that I'd never even heard of such a thing. They were outstanding. We don't have things like that in the North--just regular dill pickles. I know that eating many of these fried pickles aren't entirely good for the body, but Candice and I did well to finish off a big half order of them. I was also able to eat at a great place called "California Dreaming" when with her family. Their prime rib sandwich was incredible...the best prime rib i've had in a long time. Thanks to Candice's parents for treating. And how can a weekend be complete without ice cream a few times....Coldstone one afternoon and Sonic shakes the next!

On a house note, one of the two exterior doors went in yesterday (the back door) getting us that much closer to being done!
